Tips and recommendations

We strongly recommend people traveling to Costa Rica to avoid prolonged stay in the Central Valley. Because of the main airport (Juan Santamaría, SJO) being situated there, it is not possible avoiding the area. But spending more time than necessary is strongly disadvised.

Also try to avoid public transport. We advise using rental cars with airport pickup. We have good connections with fair-priced car rental companies so you can contact us if needed.

 

There is another way of traveling that is a lot of fun and very secure: renting a rugged fourwheel drive car with a rooftop mounted tent. Traveling adventurous and in style, you camp on campgrounds, having your own ‘house’ with you - so you will not have to deal with crowded hotels and their lobbies. Also you will be outside all the time, where chance of infection is low.
